In her writing life, Nina used to write short stories, but, many years ago, she decided to take a screenwriting class at City College of San Francisco, turning one of those stories into her first screenplay. That screenplay, STRUCTURING ABSENCE, was a second round selection for the 2004 Sundance Film Festival Labs. More recently, her screenplay AUTO HIGH was chosen for the 2019 Athena Film Festival LA Screenwriting Lab, and was also on the 2020 Athena List, which highlights screenplays that feature strong female characters. Her screenplay RUNNING, adapted from a book of the same name by Cara Hoffman, was a semi-finalist for the 2021 WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Screenwriting Lab, a finalist for the 2023 London Greek Film Festival Screenwriting Competition, and a second rounder for the 2024 Sundance Screenwriting Lab. Her screenplay SPORTS NITE, co-written with her sister, was a quarterfinalist for the 2023 Writers Lab.
