Carla Franchesca is a documentary filmmaker graduated from CUNY's The City College of New York, and she works as a production facilitator at MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Carla pursued a career in Social Communications, with a concentration in Journalism and Public Relations from Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), the public university system in the Dominican Republic. However, she was not able to finish her degree because her family moved to the United States in 2010.
As soon as she came to the United States, she got involved with a non-profit organization that uses theater to address essential issues in our communities.
She continued her education at CUNY's Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) enrolling in the Video Arts & Technology program, to follow her longtime passion for film and television production. At BMCC, she got a better understanding of the documentary genre and decided that she was going to focus on making these types of films. She also became the leader of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Student Chapter, which served as an educational and ne
