Fiction Meeting Coordinator (New York, NY - Temporary)

The Gotham Week Expo hosts thought leadership sessions curated by The Gotham’s Expanding Communities partners in addition to a physical showcase of those partners communities, programs, and events.


The Gotham is a leader in curating exceptional film and media talent who have gone on to create groundbreaking films such as Moonlight, Didi, Nanny, The Unknown Country, and All That Breathes.

Throughout Gotham Week events, this role serves as the main source of support to the Fiction Programs Manager and Gotham Week Project Market meetings. Their main responsibilities include gathering materials and general preparation for Gotham Week, correspondence with Industry member registration, receiving, coordinating and maneuvering both in-person and Zoom meetings.

The position is for the term of August 19, 2024 to October 11, 2024. This is a full-time temporary, nonexempt role and the hourly rate will be $23 with the expected workload of 40 hours per week. Due to the temporary nature of this role additional benefits, such as health care, are not included. The candidate can work remotely or in person from our DUMBO, Brooklyn offices (or a combination thereof) during the contract period. The month of September will include a hybrid work schedule and the week of September 30th – October 4th will be mandatory in person for Gotham Week. Overtime and evening work hours may be required during Gotham Week.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

– Assist in filmmaker correspondence in terms of gathering materials and general preparations for Gotham Week itself

– Correspond with industry members who’ve registered in registering for Gotham Week, ensuring they select their meetings in a timely fashion

– Receives all meeting requests for all fiction projects from industry members and organize meetings

– Coordinate meetings in scheduling for fiction projects, in concert with meetings coordinators for other Project Market sections

– For on-site meetings, oversee daily meetings schedule and work with volunteers to ensure efficient and calm environment in-person meetings

– For virtual meetings, assist in maneuvering Zoom breakout rooms and assignments

– Provide general support to Gotham Fiction Programs Managers and Programming staff

QUALIFICATIONS

– Passion for and knowledge of independent film and filmmakers

– High attention to detail

– Previous festival experience and/or experience managing scheduled is a plus

– Experience working to support large-scale events

– Experience managing Zoom meetings and breakout rooms

– Previous experience or interest in film curation, programming and/or development

– Ability to multi-task and prioritize independently
