Synopsis: In his sixth year of high school, Luka needs to get it together and move forward into adulthood. Will he graduate?

 

In order of appearance:

 

Luka (20)– A lackadaisical, twenty-year-old high school senior who skips school to work at a fish store. Has his own weed business on the side that gets him into big boy trouble. He really has no interest in his own future but will that change over the course of his last semester?

 

Laura (19)– A high school graduate who is completely in love with Luka who couldn't care less about their relationship or anything really. She is self-assured, feisty and is an independent thinker; this is the core of who she is and who she must learn to embrace by the end of the film.

 

Francesca/Raya/Laura's Mom (40-50)– The actor who plays this role must read for Francesca (Luka's fed-up guidance counselor), Raya (Luka's lackadaisical mother who doesn't seem to mind that her son might not graduate after six years), and Laura's Mom (Laura's attentive, tap recital attending mother).

 

Jake (18)– Luka's good, level-headed friend from school. On the lacrosse team and plans to play in college. Younger brother of Cole, one of Luka's friends from his original class.

 

Bucktooth Bob (45)– Town drug dealer and town lunatic. Starts rivalry with Luka over his little high school weed-selling business expanding into his big boy territory. Tries to be macho and fails. A total mess. Looks like he's in his seventies or eighties even though he's only forty-five. Should be played by older actor.

 

Tommy (9)/Corbin (18)– This young actor (18-25) will read for both Laura's tap-dancing little brother Tommy and Luka's meathead, lax bro Corbin. Tommy is known to be mature for his age and on the straight-and-arrow. Corbin is a hype man for the boys and a joker but also has an unspoken-about eating disorder, which strikes a chord with Luka who clearly has the same issue.

 

Josh/Laura's Dad/Clark (40-50)– This actor will play Josh (Luka's caring uncle who stages interventions for his adrift nephew), Laura's Dad (Laura's overprotective, over-involved father), and Clark (Luka's drinking, inattentive father).

 

Anna (18)– Friendly and interesting girl in Luka's math class. Sweet and a bit awkward with an edge to her. Self-possessed with a Gryffindor spirit.

 

Cole (20)/Rod (18)– This actor will play both Cole (Luka's friend from his original high school class who plays college lacrosse and is moving on with his life) and Rod (Luka's current high school friend. Another lacrosse player and will go along with whatever the other boys say. He's laid back and likes to hold a middle-ground).

 

Owner (80)– An out-of-touch older man who owns the fish store that Luka runs. He's well-intentioned and trusting. Prefers to go about his business and keep life simple. This actor will also be reading the action for us at the reading.

 

Two workshop dates & final reading date are TBD and will be scheduled around the actors as well.
