Part-time Customer Service + Camera Gear Expert

Job Description
We’re looking for an enthusiastic camera lover to help ensure KitSplit members have a flawless experience renting camera gear, and help drive initiated rentals to completion. Qualified applicants will have strong communication skills and knowledge of film and photography equipment. You’ll be a key part of this small startup team, collecting feedback from members and helping develop best practices and refine strategy. Brushing elbows with the best DPs, directors, and producers in the industry, you’ll learn about the coolest and newest gear. **Please note** —you must have camera knowledge, and be available for weekend work. (At first, it will be 3-4 days/week with one of those days on the weekend). You’ll be doing many different things including (but not limited to):
*Manage member emails, chats, and phone calls. Help customers place orders, handle modifications and cancellations, and notify equipment owners of changes. Act as a concierge between our renters and owners when needed. Provide recommendations to our renters about what gear to rent, and support our owners in converting inquiries into orders.
*Proactively delight both new and existing members—ask first timers how their experience went, send a hand-written letter when something goes awry, etc.
*Answer questions about camera gear
*Occasionally, we may also ask you to help with other projects, including but not limited to social media posting and/or helping to manage our database of equipment and writing catchy descriptions of new gear
Skills/Expertise:
*Strong written and oral communication skills—you need to love talking to strangers
*Knowledge of and excitement around film and photography gear
*Detail-oriented and organized
*Positive, empathetic mindset and commitment to going above and beyond for our members
*The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment to prioritize and solve challenging customer problems when they arise
*Customer service experience
Bonus points for:
*Rental house experience
*Social media experience
*Experience and/or interest in writing blog posts
This is a paid, hourly contract position for 3-4 days/week, with the potential for more hours down the line. At the beginning, one day a week will be on the weekend, so you must be available and willing to commit to weekend work. We will give preference to candidates based in the NYC or LA area, but will consider strong remote candidates.
