JOB OVERVIEW

The NYFF Venue Manager works under the supervision of the Production Manager to oversee festival operations within the New York Film Festival's principal screening location, Alice Tully Hall.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Acts as primary NYFF front-of-house point of contact for LCPA staff, NYFF staff, and visiting studios at Alice Tully Hall;
  • Oversees the work of all front-of-house volunteers;
  • Works with house staff and NYFF volunteers to coordinate crowd control in the venue's lobbies and exterior spaces, ensuring a smooth customer experience;
  • Works with Stage Manager to ensure backstage production needs are met and screenings begin on time;
  • Ensures appropriate signage is set up and taken down as directed by the Production Coordinator;
  • Organizes and trains volunteers manning the festival's VIP lounge;
  • Ensures that standby line customers are communicated to, processed, and brought into the space following appropriate protocol;
  • Ensures venue spaces are neat, orderly, and stocked with essential collateral (program guides, sponsor goods, etc.);
  • Tracks inventory in Alice Tully Hall, including marketing materials, signage, sponsor goods, and more, working closely with the Production Coordinator to restock as needed;
  • Assist with load in and load out of Alice Tully Hall;
  • Oversees standard red carpet setups, which may include step & repeat fabric swaps;
  • Execute unique activations in Alice Tully Hall, including sponsor activations, red carpet builds, and program-related venue buildouts at the direction of the Production Manager;
  • Acts as primary NYFF point of contact for vendors, including anti-piracy security;
  • Support the Production Manager in executing film technical run-throughs and walkthroughs as required.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Experience in a film festival or event production;
  • Experience in venue/front-of-house management;
  • Comfortable with physically demanding, front-line production work;
  • Comfortable leading production assistants and teams of volunteers;
  • Comfortable working out of our brick-and-mortar offices and at our venues;
  • Customer service experience;
  • Grace under pressure;
  • Attention to detail and a keen sense of organization
  • Comfortable working with Google Suite and Excel
