As EVP, Content and Creative Strategy for Disney Channels Worldwide, Nancy Kanter guides program development for Disney Channels’ audience of kids age 2-11, as well as produced content for Disney+. She also oversees the strategy for acquisitions, and for attracting the best creative talent to support Disney’s entertainment platforms.
Before rising to this role in 2017, Kanter was General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide, where she brought in numerous Peabody and Emmy® Award-winning programs. Under her leadership, Disney Junior reigned as the #1 preschooler network in total viewers and key demographics.
In 2011-2012, she led the successful rebrand of Playhouse Disney to Disney Junior, establishing the latter as a global powerhouse with 36 channels around the world. She formed the Disney Junior Educational Resource Group, an in-house team responsible for curriculum development and established a council of academic advisors to guide that curriculum
Before joining Disney, Kanter was president of children’s entertainment site Bluecow.com. She was previously an EP for Sesame Workshop, supervising Sesame Street specials and direct-to-video projects, including the Emmy Award-winning Elmo Saves Christmas.
Other experience includes ABC After-school Specials, Emmy-winning film editing, and award-winning documentaries for public television. Additionally, she served as an adjunct professor of film at Hunter College.
Kanter graduated with honors from Hunter College. She is a member of ATAS and has served on its board. She is a board member of the Hollywood Health & Society at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
