Please tell us about your screenwriting work.

I fell in love with the screenwriting process a few years ago, and have completed one screenplay. It’s entitled Save the Date. It’s about a young woman destined to find a missing page from her deceased grandmother’s journal, which happens to be her final journal entry before she died. Finding the missing entry would give her a sense of closure.

What are you writing about these days?

I currently have a story idea that I’m fleshing out that circles around my old stomping grounds in the Bronx.

What women screenwriters have inspired you?

Ava DuVernay is by far my favorite screenwriter & filmmaker at the moment. I’m hooked on Queen Sugar! It’s my favorite series right now. The storytelling and visuals are both captivating, and I find myself anticipating what will happen next after every episode.

Can you share with us some insight about your creative endeavors with the creative agency you are with?

I’m a Copy Manager for an in-house creative agency for a major retailer. My work entails ensuring product copy is concise and within our brand voice, and I also help boost our SEO efforts with engaging content blocks.

What are some of the most memorable moments in your career so far?

Some of the most memorable moments of my career have been: interviewing the CEO for an internal publication, having the ability to move within the company to gain more marketing insight, and being able to work with a great group of people, some of whom feel like family.

What intrigued you to join NYWIFT?

I wanted to join NYWIFT because of the incredible history it has for empowering women in the industry. From the moment I became a member, I’ve felt inspired by the amazing women who I’ve met within the Communications Committee and on the Muse Awards team.

What does your role entail with the NYWIFT podcast team?

Being a member of the podcast team has given me an opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone in terms of conducting interviews with filmmakers. I’ve grown to enjoy the preparation process of delving into a piece of work, then generating questions around it, and ultimately, speaking with the creators.

You are multitalented! What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?

I enjoy knowing that each day, I have an opportunity to write…to edit…to conceptualize…to imagine.

How will you celebrate Women’s History Month?

I’ll be celebrating Women’s History Month by honoring my favorite woman of all, my Mom. She has always been my inspiration.
