Suburban housewife Jean (2020 NYWIFT Muse Honoree Rachel Brosnahan, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) lives a seemingly easy life, supported by husband Eddie’s (Bill Heck) career as a thief. But when Eddie betrays his partners, Jean and her baby are forced to go on the run, and Eddie’s old friend Cal (Arinzé Kene) is tasked with keeping them safe. After Cal mysteriously disappears, Jean befriends his wife Teri (Marsha Stephanie Blake) and the two women set out on a perilous journey into the heart of Eddie’s criminal underworld.

A decidedly female take on crime dramas of the 1970s, I’m Your Woman is a tale of love, betrayal, motherhood—and what it takes to claim your life as your own.

Julia Hart (Director, Writer) continues to establish herself as one of Hollywood’s most compelling storytellers as she expands her repertoire in film and television.Most recently she co-wrote and directed Star girl. Hart previously directed Fast Color, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Lorraine Toussaint. Hart’s directorial debut, Miss Stevens, premiered at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival, where she earned nominations for the Gamechanger Award and the Grand Jury Prize. In 2014 Hart wrote The Keeping Room, a film about three women in the dying days of the American Civil War who must fight to defend their home from rogue soldiers who have broken off from the fast-approaching Union Army. Starring Brit Marling and Hailee Steinfeld, the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival as well as the London Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Film. Hart and Horowitz’s production company Original Headquarters has several projects in the works including a series adaptation of their film Fast Color for Amazon and JuVee, Viola Davis and Julius Tennon’s production company; Damien Chazelle’s as-yet-untitled series for MRC and Apple; an untitled Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen election comedy, for Amazon; and the Rashida Jones, Will McCormack and Ben Queen series Museum of Broken Relationships, for MRC. A graduate of Columbia University in New York City, Hart currently resides in Los Angeles with Horowitz and their two young sons.

Jordan Horowitz (Writer, Producer) is an Academy Award®-nominated producer and writer who has become one of Hollywood’s most prolific filmmakers. He was a producer on Damien Chazelle’s 2017 Oscar® winner La La Land, starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Horowitz served as a producer on Lisa Cholodenko’s The Kids Are All Right, starring Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, and Mark Ruffalo. The film was later honored with the 2011 AFI Award for Movie of the Year. Horowitz and Hart’s production company Original Headquarters has several projects in the works including a series adaptation of their film Fast Color for Amazon and JuVee, Viola Davis and Julius Tennon’s production company; Damien Chazelle’s as-yet-untitled series for MRC and Apple; an untitled Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen election comedy, for Amazon; and the Rashida Jones, Will McCormack and Ben Queen series Museum of Broken Relationships, for MRC.Horowitz’s executive-producing credits include Hart’s Stargirl, and Starz’s critically acclaimed series Counterpart. Under the Original Headquarters banner Horowitz and Hart co-wrote and produced Fast Color, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lorraine Toussaint and David Strathairn. Horowitz’s other producing credits include The Cleanse, Rob Meyer’s Little Boxes, Matthew Weiner’s Are You Here, Julia Hart’s The Keeping Room, and Michael Mohan’s Save the Date, which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. A graduate of Northwestern University, Horowitz currently resides in Los Angeles with Hart and their two young sons.

NYWIFT Board Member Amenya Makuku (Moderator) is an independent producer and the new Head of Development for Wilderness Films, with previous tenures at Edward Norton’s Class 5 Films (Thanks for Sharing) and FilmNation Entertainment (Room, Arrival). Her in-depth development background is reinforced by an education in production legal, acquisitions and international pre-sales. Amenya co-produced director Josephine Decker’s Sundance smash Madeline’s Madeline (Berlinale 2018, BAM 2018). She recently produced the TV-length pilot for web-series Addie & Addy. Amenya is in development on a number of film and TV projects including collaborations with Debra Granik, Anne Rossellini, and Joy Goodwin. She is the Film and TV Advisor for The Playwright’s Realm (2017 Pulitzer Finalist The Wolves).
