Nicole Holofcener is one of those rare directors who consistently delivers solid films and Enough Said is one of her best. This is the first time she worked with iconic actors James Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and she brings them both to wonderful new places.

The film is funny, awkward, uncomfortable and ultimately life-affirming, reminding us that one’s (wo)man’s trash is another (wo)man’s treasure. Gandolfini is especially touching as a somewhat hapless divorced man who is completely out of his element in dating. I found him charming and likeable with a vulnerability we only saw glimpses of from Tony Soprano.  Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays a more recognizable version of previous characters she’s played, but with more pathos. Catherine Keener and Toni Collette round out the cast with wonderful performances.

For an offbeat, quirky, funny glimpse at midlife dating, definitely take a look at Enough Said. The film can be seen on DVD and streaming outlets, such as Netflix, Amazon and iTunes.
