New York Women in Film & Television is delighted to join with the Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) (October 6 – 10th, 2016) to co-present the panel discussion Women in Film: Lots of Talk. Any Action?, the Annual Brunch and Women Calling the Shots short film showcase – all in celebration of the outstanding achievements by women filmmakers.

WOMEN IN FILM: LOTS OF TALK. ANY ACTION?
Though the subject of gender diversity behind the camera has been increased in industry (and public) conversation over the past several years, have conditions for female filmmakers actually improved? What are the challenges women face in getting projects financed, produced and distributed? How do they combat day-to-day bias with strength and fortitude? How can we transform conversation into action?
We’ve invited a selection of HIFF 2016’s female filmmakers for a practical and intimate conversation with Alexis Alexanian, NYWIFT Board President and President of Production at Locomotive, and Thelma Adams, film journalist, author, and member of the HIFF Advisory Board. Filmmaker panelists include Jessie Auritt (Supergirl), Kat Coiro (Wig Shop), Chris Hegedus (Unlocking the Cage), Kahane Cooperman (Joe’s Violin).
