Rule Breakers: Listen to NYWIFT member Jennifer Fox and Board President Simone Pero, writer/director and producer respectively of The Tale on the “Rule Breakers” podcast. Jennifer and Simone talk about the film, the layered consequences of sexual abuse, what we can do to protect others and the journey to healing.

DOC NYC: I am thrilled to see how many of our NYWIFT members have films at DOC NYC next week! If you’re going to the festival, be sure to check out some of these films by the talented women (and men!) in our community. And if you’re not yet following us on Instagram, have a look at the @NYWIFT account, where we are posting about each of the films before the festival begins on November 8th.

Carole Chazin: In honor of longtime NYWIFT member and supporter Carole Chazin, New York Women in Film & Television has established the Human Trafficking Awareness Grant in her name. The grant for $7,500 will be awarded to a woman director for a recently completed documentary film or a documentary work-in-progress film on human trafficking. Applications are open through December 3rd.

I met Carole Chazin in 2014 at the Pordenone Silent Film Festival in Italy. We had lunch together, and talked about many things. The memory of her as a caring and beautiful woman stayed with me.
