A Practical Plan to Creating Podcasts: A Decade of Podcast Love - Getting Started

Podcasting is a trend that has become more accessible. It can be the next best thing to showcase and promote that short film, feature or a project that is seeking financing. NYWIFT is pleased to announce the new series A Practical Path to Creating Podcasts, which features three sessions: A Decade of Podcast Love - Getting Started, Developing the Listener's Experience and Follow the Podcast: Marketing and Promotion.

Join podcast producer Christina Kotlar and actor/blogger/host/producer Frances McGarry for the first installment, A Decade of Podcast Love - Getting Started, a hands-on workshop that serves as a podcast primer. While most people can do a podcast on their own, it’s still a choice to hire a production studio that includes audio recording on its list of services, or maintain control as a DIY product. Either way, there are decisions on what you want to get out of it and this hands-on workshop will give you the jumpstart in the right direction to create and implement your podcast program.

Topics Covered will include:

Kinds of podcasts
• Project promo – a way to sell your film project
• Informational – consultant/interviews/topical conversations
• Serial – ongoing web series

How does it work/What goes into a podcast? Your Story

• Audio Recording– Format – RSS Feed –Syndication
• Title and description
• Identity - Logo Icon/Domain Name
• Target Audience

Pitch and Perfect the Plan - Hands On
• Groups to share their program idea
• Creative criticism
• Brainstorming/Editorial Calendar
