The WIFTI Short Film Showcase is a powerful demonstration of our members’ creativity, vision, and artistry. Founded in 2004, the WIFTI Short Film Showcase presents selected films from Women in Film & Television Chapters around the world. Some recent Showcase films have been nominated for Academy Awards, received distribution deals and garnered recognition globally. WIFTI encourages unique points of view and storytelling that focuses on subjects/issues that concern women.
The Showcase is exclusively for WIFTI Chapter Members that are current on their dues.
Filmmakers in your chapter may submit their work to the showcase at no charge, which is one of the benefits of being a member of WIFTI. (As a member of NYWIFT, you are a member of WIFTI.)
All submissions this year will be processed through FilmFreeway.com. Films must have been completed in the past 2 years, 2016 or 2017. Films should not exceed 15 minutes in length. The Director must be female, and we encourage submissions featuring strong female characters and storylines. We would also like to see what other females were involved in the making of the film; Actresses, Producer, Director of Photography, Animators, Editors, etc.
The deadline to receive films will be January 10, 2018.
Each member must submit from their chapter a letter verifying they are a member in good standing to their chapter. This can be screen grab of an email or a PDF document on letterhead. This verification letter must include contact information to an Executive or Membership Director of the chapter. This letter must be uploaded with the film's press kit.
