|Crowdfunding Spotlight: Don't Forget to Breathe
NYWIFT members Nadhege Ptah and Michele Baldwin are crowdfunding for the short film they are producing. Don’t Forget to Breathe is a sci-fi psychological thriller that examines the subconscious mind’s fight-or-flight response when faced with a perceived threat. During an emergency evacuation, research scientists John and Christine are locked in their lab when failing to escape a last ditch attempt to take away valuable information pertaining to their project. With a harmful agent released into the air ducts, remembering one simple thing will determine their survival.Nadhege Ptah (Producer) is an actor/writer/producer/dancer/director of film, stage, and theater. She began her artistic journey dancing in her mother’s womb and made good on that promise - winning awards for choreography and dance with various modern dance ensembles and garnering acknowledgment from The United Nations for her work. She has starred in several leading and supporting roles and has worn many hats for various productions. Huffington Post, Backstage, Harlem Times and Off-Off Broadway Review have acknowledged Ptah with rave reviews for her performances and writing skills. Ptah is founder and CEO of the Harlem-based production company MAAT Films. Her work attempts to shed light on social injustices while igniting change in many American communities. Her recent project Harlem Love, which she starred and produced premiered privately in February 2017 to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance with Sonia Sanchez whose voice and poem are featured in the film. Her past projects include: the award winning film as producer, writer, actress in DoDo TiTi which continues to screen at various festivals and an honorarium invitation at Mount Holyoke college. She is in pre-production to direct She Loves’ music video, co-writing a pilot for a South African-American TV drama, and writing the short film Paris Blues in Harlem. Ptah is a member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA, Black Documentary Collective, Frank Silvera Writers Workshop, and NYWIFT.

Michele Baldwin (Producer) is an American, multi-talented creative artist: Actor, Award Winning Producer/Filmmaker and an overall Inspirer with over 20 plus years experience that encompass all aspects of the Entertainment field: Film, TV, Theater and the Internet. Michele is very passionate about her work and feels amazingly blessed for the gifts and talents God has given her. She has an extensive arsenal of theater and film projects under her belt as an actor, and an array of screenplays, TV shows and stage plays as a Producer, Writer and Director.
As a creator of content, she seeks to not just make "movies," or tell simple stories, but rather to be a creator of compelling, more deeply aligned stories that speak to the true human diaspora, exploring the multi-faceted emotions that we endure. Just as the character's she writes, Michele enjoys portraying generally strong, opinionated, witty and inspiring women. Additionally, she feels the industry needs to truly embrace more women of varying shades in viable roles in film and on TV.
Believing strongly in doing whatever is necessary to get the project done, Michele has additionally worked as an editor, camera operator, stage manager and varying crew roles on film and TV production sets, as well as serving as a teaching artist, motivational speaker to secondary grade school children, producing consultant, acting coach/teacher and contributing writer to several trade magazines and blogs.
Producing for the past nine years, Michele has helped to bring a varying array of independent films, commercials and theater projects to the forefront. Her projects have been in many popular film festivals; Urbanworld, Jersey City International Film Festival to name a few, with one having been an NAACP Image Award request. Michele has earned considerable IMDB credits in varying roles and has graced numerous NY City theater stages; MST, Second Stage Theatre, 59E59, EST and more.
A student of the Einhorn School of Performing Arts, Michele is also a Member of: SAG-AFTRA, NYWIFT, IFP, Flobel.org, Off-Broadway Alliance, Newark Business, Hub, and the Frank Silvera Writer's Workshop.
