Join New York Women in Film & Television and NewFest for a special free screening of Amazon’s Emmy-nominated comedy series Transparent as part of After School Special: SVA’s Alumni Film and Animation and Festival.
Written, directed and executive-produced by multi-award winner Jill Soloway, Transparent is a half-hour novelistic series that explores family, identity, sex and love. The series stars Jeffrey Tambor as Maura, who has spent her life as Mort—the Pfefferman family patriarch. The cast also features Judith Light, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass and Gaby Hoffmann.
Zackary Drucker, an actor and associate producer on Transparent, will be on hand live via Skype to present two of the show’s Season One episodes. Behind-the-scenes footage and a special webisode produced in conjunction with the series will also be screened.
The screening of Transparent will be preceded by the award-winning short film Away (2012) by Elisa Bates and the experimental video How to Not Get Raped (2014) by Cat Del Buono.
