9th Annual MY HERO International Film Festival
MY HERO International Film Festival welcomes short films that address the theme of heroism in the genres of narrative, documentary, animatic, experimental and more. There are separate categories for elementary, middle school, high school, college, and professional filmmakers. The festival provides opportunities tor young and emerging media artists to win prizes and recognition.
is an accomplished author, painter, and activist who has worked for world peace over the last 40 years. As a former Marine Corps sergeant, he served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War before being wounded in combat and paralyzed. Ron Kovic annually awards a $1000 Peace Prize to the director of the short film that most effectively addresses the issue of world peace.
was a passionate activist, artist and photo journalist. He was killed at the age of twenty-two while reporting on the conflict in Somalia. His mother Kathy Eldon, presents an award every year at the My Hero International Film Festival. This award comes with a $500 cash prize donated by Kathy and Amy Eldon and Creative Visions Foundation.
MY HERO International Festival is held annually at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in the George Lucas building. All finalists and Winning films also play online in the MY HERO screening room.
