Headstrong young law student and single mother Kisa Wangari is devastated when her six year old son is killed by a WallStreet CEO in a hit and run. When the CEO is let off without justice, a grief stricken Kisa seeks vengeance and murders him.
In prison for life, Kisa quickly comes into conflict with John Halcomb, a misogynistic Corrections Officer systematically abusing the inmates and determined to break Kisa. Yet Kisa is just as determined to resist Halcomb and expose his abuse. In retaliation, Halcomb throws her into solitary. There Kisa receives a series of mysterious visits from the spirit of her son, and her heart begins to heal.
Out of solitary, Kisa gathers momentum in her mission to get rid of Halcomb. Yet when his abuse escalates and a close friend dies at his hand, Kisa is forced to choose between her instinct to retaliate and the possibility of a diferent path.
