When can you get a sales agent involved and how do they choose projects? Can an agent get involved early enough to influence packaging? Also learn how small projects can get on the radar through packaging and/or getting an Executive Producer on board as a type of Godparent.
Tara Erer is the SVP of Sales at FilmNation Entertainment, a leading independent foreign sales and production company. Erer manages all aspects of communication with filmmakers and plays a leading role in the overall acquisition, analysis and selection of projects. Erer led worldwide sales on numerous groundbreaking artistic and financial successes in recent years including: The Imitation Game; Knight of Cups (Dir: Terrence Malick); and The King’s Speech (Best Picture, Academy Awards), among many others. She led sales on two major FilmNation productions that begin shooting in June 2015 including: The Founder and Story of Your Life. She previously worked in international sales for The Weinstein Company.
Ryan Kampe worked in International Distribution at Focus Features prior to founding Visit Films in 2005. Earlier in his career he worked in physical production in New York City on numerous film and TV productions. With Visit Films, he has been responsible for the worldwide sales and development of a number of important American independent and international films that have premiered in all of the major film festivals such as Cannes, Sundance, Berlin, Venice and Toronto. He has worked with filmmakers as diverse as Harmonie Korine, Werner Herzog, the Duplass Brothers, Rolf de Heer, Joe Swanberg, Valerie Donzelli and David Robert Mitchell.
Adrienne Stern is a casting director known for securing casts that open doors to festivals and distribution. Her films have premiered at Sundance, Toronto, Cannes, Tribeca, Berlin, South by Southwest and other prominent festivals. Sundance premieres include Broken English, Adrift in Manhattan, Girlstown, The Believer, Thirteen Conversations About One Thing and This Revolution. Stern recently cast Elektric Children, Prism, Those Who Wander, Blood & Circumstance and Electric City. TV credits include NY casting for That 70’s Show and Welcome to Greenpoint for FX. Commercials include the Dove Real Beauty Campaign, Philips Norelco, Amex, D'Angelo, Kool-Aid , ESPN, Infiniti, Moma and more. She was Casting Director of The New York Sundance Writers Lab Reading Series from 1996-2005.
Jamie Zelermyer is a New York based Independent Producer. Most recently she produced Ratter (SONY; SlamDance Film Fest 2015) starring Ashley Benson and Matt McGorry. Zelermyer was the VP, Physical Production at Focus Features/Rogue Pictures and oversaw Admission, One Day, Jane Eyre, Sin Nombre and Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day. Prior to Focus Jamie was a Line Producer and Production Manager working on films such as Igby Goes Down, Boys Don't Cry and You Can Count on Me. Over the years, she has had the privilege to work with a number of notable directors including Steve McQueen, Lone Scherfig, Kenneth Lonergan, Cary Fukanaga and Kimberly Pierce.
Kerry Fulton (Moderator) produced the 3D animated feature Justin and the Knights of Valor, which can now be seen on Netflix, as well as the feature documentary Ana and I, which is available to stream on Amazon Prime, Indiereign, Vimeo, Seed&Spark and CineClick. Additionally she has recently sold a drama series to CBS. Previously based out of Madrid, she worked for Sony Pictures Europe, which produced features in Spain, Italy, Germany and France. Earlier Kerry was VP of Original Programming at Singapore Television 12 where she EP’d award winning drama, documentary and reality shows around Asia. Fulton is a member of the PGA, BAFTA and NYWIFT. She also teaches at the School of Visual Arts.
