Power Player Breakfast: Monique Nelson, Chairman and CEO, UniWorld Group

When it comes to connecting companies with the diverse cultures of today’s marketplace, Power Player Monique L. Nelson leads the field.

Nelson comes to NYWIFT this month to talk about her position as the Chairman and CEO of UniWorld Group, Inc., the longest-standing multicultural advertising agency in the world. She specializes in leading multimillion-dollar, globally integrated marketing programs that drive sales, increase brand awareness and create a competitive advantage. She brings strategic, coherent brand positioning across the marketing mix to UniWorld Group’s esteemed client list, which includes the Ford Motor Company, Amtrak, Marriott International, The Home Depot and the U.S. Marines. Since taking the helm of UniWorld Group in May 2012, Nelson has led her team in the development of award-winning campaigns that show the wide range of the agency’s expertise.

Prior to joining UniWorld Group, Nelson was the Global Lead for Entertainment Marketing at Motorola, where she ensured that the technology giant’s entertainment and music strategies lived up to their marketing promise worldwide. While there, she helped launch campaigns for the Isle of MTV, Motorola E398, ROKR E1 with iTunes, and Gorillaz Live at the Apollo.

Active in her community, Nelson sits on the New York Advisory Board for The Posse Foundation, of which she is an alumna. She has volunteered with the Sequoia Women’s Center and the Brooklyn Battered Women’s Shelter. She supports the Vanderbilt on Madison Avenue Internship Program and is a member of the Brooklyn Chapter of Links, an international, not-for-profit corporation established in 1946, the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organization of women committed to the cultural and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. Nelson has an MBA in International Marketing and Finance from DePaul University and a BS in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University.
