Puzzles: When Hate Came to Town
Join us for this LGBT Pride Month screening of the provocative film
Puzzles: When Hate Comes to Town,
by Tami Gold and David Pavlosky. It's part of NYWIFT's continuing series of films at the Norwood Club.
In the post-industrial city of New Bedford, MA, an 18 year-old entered a gay and lesbian bar named Puzzles and attacked its patrons with a hatchet and gun. As a result, two very different communities have been threatened: disaffected white youths, who call themselves Juggalos — followers of the Detroit-based white-rap band Insane Clown Posse — as well as the drag performers and closeted working class gay men and lesbians who frequent the bar, a vibrant but fragile oasis in their lives.
Puzzles
charts the journeys of these divergent groups in the wake of the violence. Along the way, the film reveals the deep alienation that many American youth experience, as well as the abiding need for family.

.
