Presented by New York Women in Film & Television and Variety
One of NYWFT's most glitzy events, Designing Women—which honors renowned costume designers, makeup artists and hairstylists in film, television and digital media—will take place on June 18, 2014, at McGraw-Hill (1221 Avenue of the Americas, NYC).
Designing Women is an annual event honoring a costume designer, a makeup artist and a hair stylist, as well as the entire makeup, costume and design team of a film or television show.
At the heart of Designing Women is an awards ceremony filled with personal anecdotes from celebrities who have more deeply inhabited their roles as a result of the award winners' amazing work designing costumes, makeup and hair. Then comes a reception, where guests mingle with the designers and stars. They see first hand the captivating costumes, sketches, posters and stills, illustrating the work of the honorees.
Last year's honorees included: makeup artist Andrea Miller (The Good Wife, Third Watch, Saturday Night Live),
hairstylist Mandy Lyons (Moonrise Kingdom, The Tempest, Sex and the City),
and costume designer Deborah Scott (Titanic, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Avatar).
The Variety Ensemble Award was presented to the costume, makeup and hair design team of The Americans.
Proceeds from Designing Women benefit NYWIFT's nonprofit educational programs.
