Dana Offenbach
Qasim Basir's film Moozlum, produced by Dana Offenbach, is
making it's debut at the UrbanWorld Film Festival on September 17. The
screening will take place at the AMC Theatre on 34th street at 7:45pm.
It will be a star- studded event and the actors are coming out to
support the film as well.

Synopsis:
Pulled between his strict Muslim upbringing by his father and the normal social life he’s never had, Tariq Mahdi (Evan Ross)
enters college in a state of confusion. New relationships with Muslims
and non-Muslims alike challenge his already shaken ideals, and the
estrangement with his mother and sister troubles him. Slowly, he begins
to find himself with the help of new friends, family and mentors, but
when the attacks of 9/11 happen without warning, he is forced to face
his past and make the biggest decisions of his life. Also starring Nia Long and Danny Glover.

About the film:
Born in Brooklyn in 1911, Ruth Gruber (still a powerhouse at nearly 99 years old) became the youngest PhD in the world in 1931, first journalist in the Soviet Arctic in 1935 and escorted 1000 Holocaust survivors to America in a secret war-time mission in 1944. These were the only Holocaust survivors to be allowed into America during WWII. A trail-blazer who defied tradition in countless ways, she became the eyes and conscience of the world with her camera and reporter's notebook. Author of 19 books, Ruth has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Overseas Press Club, National Jewish Book Awards and National Coalition Against Censorship. She didn't just report the news...she made it.
About the Filmmakers
Zeva Oelbaum, Producer
Zeva Oelbaum founded Reel Inheritance Films, a documentary film production company. She was Executive Producer of Rene and I, a documentary film on twins Irene Hizme and Rene Slotkin who survived Josef Mengele at Auschwitz. Zeva is an award winning still photographer and she teaches at the International Center of Photography.
Bob Richman, Director
Ahead of Time is Bob's directorial debut, but he is an award winning cinematographer and Director of Photography. He recently won the Grand Jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival for Best Cinematography for The September Issue. His other credits include Academy Award winner, An Inconvenient Truth, and Academy Award nominee, My Architect. His other credits include Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, and Paradise Lost.
Sabine Krayenbuehl, Editor
Sabine Krayenbuehl is an award winning documentary film editor. She was nominated by the American Cinema Editors for an Eddie Award for My Architect. Her other documentary projects include Mad Hot Ballroom and The Bridge. Her most recent project, Picasso and Braque Go To The Movies, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in Fall 2008.
